German biathlon world cup champions Martina Beck and Simone Hauswald enjoyed a relaxing week in Makunudu.
Martina Beck has been the first German who won the women’s overall Biathlon world cup during the winter season 2002/03. Besides that she is a three time world champion and a three times Olympic silver medalist amongst many other victories. Apart numerous medals and victories since 1998, Simone Hauswald has brought home 2 bronze medals(12,5 km mass start, 4x 6 km relay) from the Olympic games in Vancouver 2010 and a gold medal (mixed relay) from world championships in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia.
After the Olympic Games in Vancouver, Simone and Martina in company of Martina’s sister Anja decided to take a short time out at beautiful Makunudu.
Being the only non diver amongst the three, Simone was quickly convinced to go for the Open Water course. It took me a while to get the ski trail out of her mind; but in fact it was kind of interesting to see a professional winter athlete combining her training moves with the complete new (and rather calm) movements optimal for Scuba diving in 29° warm tropical waters. What a change of environment ;)
However as fast as she is on the ski trail, as well she passed the exam for the Open
Water Course as well as all exercises and enjoyed a complete new world.
And the point about the style…well, I am hoping to work on that with you upon
your next visit!
I had a great time, it was a lot of fun and definitely exciting for me to teach and dive with world champions.
I hope to see you soon again for more exciting dives and courses and a lot of fun!
